Iron Fuel Technology

Ongoing
A worker wearing safety gear stands on the second level of a metal industrial structure at a factory, with machinery, pipes, and storage tanks visible under a cloudy sky.

From demo
to pilot.

The MOOI project advances Iron Fuel Technology from TRL 5 to TRL 7 through the development and validation of a 1 MW Iron Fuel Boiler and a 200 kW Iron Fuel Production System. Alongside the technology, the project strengthens the value chain, regulatory framework and ecosystem required to prepare Iron Fuel Technology for future pilot projects and large-scale deployment.

A successful demonstration is not enough to unlock industrial adoption. Before companies invest in pilot installations, the technology must prove reliability under real operating conditions and fit within existing supply chains, regulations and operational frameworks.

The MOOI project advances Iron Fuel Technology from TRL 5 to TRL 7 by developing, building and validating a 1 MW Iron Fuel Boiler and a 200 kW Iron Fuel Production System. In parallel, the consortium prepares the broader conditions for future implementation by strengthening the value chain, engaging stakeholders and addressing regulatory and human capital requirements

Expected
impact.

By validating the technology and preparing the surrounding ecosystem, the project reduces the barriers to future industrial pilot projects and accelerates the adoption of Iron Fuel Technology for industrial heat applications.
