Preparing for

The DHI-supported project prepares the technical and commercial basis for Alpha One, RIFT’s planned First-of-a-Kind Iron Fuel production plant in Antwerp. It assesses the technical, financial, regulatory and operational feasibility of the future facility.

The project covers a technical feasibility study (FEL2) and FEED study (FEL3), including process and equipment design, cost estimates, financial modelling, permitting, HSE, lifecycle assessment, operations and maintenance, and the business plan.

The outcome will provide the technical design, business case and supporting studies required to prepare the investment decision and financing of Alpha One.

Expected

impact.

The project will help RIFT determine and prepare the conditions for the development of its first Iron Fuel production facility at commercial scale. By developing the technical design, business case and financing basis, the project aims to reduce the uncertainties surrounding the investment and enable the next phase of Alpha One.

In the longer term, the planned facility is intended to produce approximately 134,000 tonnes of Iron Fuel per year, supporting the supply of low-carbon industrial heat to customers in the Netherlands.
