Our approach to equality, diversity & inclusion

At RIFT, we are working to make the impossible possible. We know that this takes more than technology, ambition and hard work. It also takes people with different experiences, knowledge and perspectives, who are willing to challenge their own thinking and learn from others.

We believe RIFT is stronger when people approach challenges differently, ask different questions and bring different ways of thinking to the table. That is why we want to build a team with a broad range of experiences, expertise and perspectives.

For us, diversity also means recognizing that people have different backgrounds, circumstances and opportunities. Gender, age, cultural and socio-economic background, disability and other personal characteristics can shape people’s experiences and the opportunities they encounter. We do not want these differences to become unnecessary barriers to being part of RIFT, developing your capabilities or contributing to our work.

Equal value, equal opportunity

We believe everyone deserves the same respect and consideration. People are not the same, and we do not expect them to be. They bring different experiences, capabilities, knowledge, backgrounds and responsibilities. These differences can be valuable, but they should not determine whose contribution is taken seriously or who gets the opportunity to develop.

At RIFT, we expect people to listen, speak up and take each other seriously, regardless of role, seniority, experience or background. Responsibility follows roles and accountabilities, but it does not make one person’s perspective automatically more important than another’s.

We do not work with diversity quotas or targets based on personal characteristics. Our focus is on building a strong team with different experiences, expertise and ways of thinking, while ensuring that people have equal opportunities to contribute and develop. We make conscious choices in how we recruit, build teams and involve people in solving problems, and we remain alert to assumptions or barriers that may influence those choices.

Making space for different thinking

Different perspectives only make us stronger when people feel able to share them. We want people at RIFT to speak openly, challenge assumptions and disagree constructively. Being included does not mean that everyone always agrees, or that every idea is adopted. It means that people have the space to contribute and that their contribution is taken seriously.

We also want people to feel that they can be themselves at work, without having to fit a particular mold. Respect, humility, feedback, honesty, collaboration and trust are important parts of how we work together. We expect people to treat one another fairly and to take concerns about disrespectful, discriminatory or exclusionary behavior seriously.

Where we stand

RIFT is still building its team and culture, and we know we will not always get everything right. We do not want to introduce targets or programs simply to demonstrate that we are doing something. We want to make thoughtful choices that help us build a stronger team, remove unnecessary barriers and do better work.

For us, equality, diversity and inclusion are not a finished exercise. They are an ongoing part of building RIFT: being open to different perspectives, being honest about where we stand, and continuing to improve where it matters. That is the kind of equality, diversity and inclusion we believe will help us build something extraordinary.
