The Alpha One project has officially entered the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phase. Following approval by RIFT’s Supervisory Board and shareholders, the project progresses into its next stage of development. As a result, Alpha One moves another important step closer to becoming RIFT’s first commercial Iron Fuel Production Plant.

From project development to detailed engineering

Developing a first-of-a-kind industrial facility is a gradual process. Each phase builds on the last. Before construction can begin, every process, interface and system must be engineered in sufficient detail. This reduces technical and execution risks, improves cost certainty and prepares the project for delivery. The FEED phase is where those foundations are laid.

Over the coming months, RIFT and its engineering partner will further develop the design of the production plant. They will refine technical specifications and prepare the engineering package required for a well-informed Final Investment Decision (FID). At the same time, insights from ongoing research and development will continue to be incorporated into the engineering process. This ensures the design benefits from the latest technological developments while the project continues to mature.

A milestone built on years of preparation

The start of FEED reflects the maturity the Alpha One project has reached. Over the past years, RIFT has worked closely with customers, industrial partners, investors and public stakeholders to transform Iron Fuel Technology from an innovative concept into a commercially deployable solution for industrial heat.

The FEED phase marks another important step in that process. It bridges the gap between project development and construction while providing the engineering foundation for the next major project milestone. Ultimately, it brings Alpha One closer to becoming RIFT’s first commercial Iron Fuel Production Plant and a blueprint for future facilities.

Looking ahead

With FEED now underway, the focus shifts towards completing the engineering work needed to support the Final Investment Decision. Meanwhile, project preparation continues across multiple disciplines, bringing Alpha One steadily closer to commercial deployment.
